La Fontaccia, a farmhouse near to Florence, is immersed in the sweet hills of Tuscany. It used to belong to Elisabetta family and it was respectfully restored after being abandoned for years, and it became an ideal place for those who are looking for inspiration and rest in a romantic and rural atmosphere. Elisabetta and Samuele will welcome you into their home, and into their biological farm
Our small farmhouse has two apartments and three rooms, all different in color, furnishings and layout. As the house already existed before the creation of the farmhouse, every room has its own unique character, but they all are equipped with the same comfort and attention to the smallest details through the use of old and original Tuscan furnishing materials.
The accommodations are all equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi coverage, linen.
Ours is a typical Tuscan home cousine, that offers old family recipes. We are very careful to use local products, seasonal vegetables and as far as possible organic ingredients.
We believe very much in the importance of the short supply chain to have a Good, Clean and Just food, that respects the seasons, as “Slow Food”’s motto of which we are members says. So, Samuele goes down to the village every day to go shopping in the shops or in local farms, to always have fresh, seasonal and waste-free products. We are convinced that the quality of food also depends on the human relationships behind it. Our kitchen, is accommodating to all needs and also offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free alternatives.
Taking care of environmental sustainability is something complex that involves many aspects from the technological habits to the daily ones.
To explain it we decided to divide the various items into the 4 categories in which traditionally nature is divided: FIRE, WATER, AIR and EARTH.
FIRE (ELECTRICITY AND HEAT)
We produce electricity thanks to solar panels and we abundantly cover the consumption of our farm. All the appliances are high efficiency and we opted for low consumption light bulbs. We heat the rooms of the farmhouse and the common room with a wood burning fireplace, while the apartments have a pellet stove.
EARTH (SOCIAL AND TERRITORY)
Respect for the territory and the environment also relies on the relationship with people. For this reason we prefer to supply our home directly from the shopkeepers of the village, favoring local raw materials and building fundamental human relationships. We separate our waste and we invite you to do the same during your stay.
Water is the most important resource on the planet, and as such it should not be wasted. We collect rainwater that we use for irrigation in dry periods in a natural way. The water for our guests, in summer, is heated thanks to solar panels, while in winter we use resistance and high efficiency boiler. Wastewaters are treated in a septic tank and the cleaning products we use are environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
AIR (AIR CONDITIONING)
For maximum comfort all rooms are equipped with air conditioning, through a class A inverter whose energy consumption is created by our green energy system. In winter, however, the production of heat is guaranteed by two wood-burning fireplaces (coming from the cleaning of the local woods), and pellet stoves (produced only from sawdust and woodworking scraps without, therefore, breaking down trees) as well as the possibility of the cycle reverse of the air conditioners.
